"Working with Joe Vella was a deeply moving experience. He guided me through the process, and the finished icon of the Theotokos is a masterpiece that I will treasure forever. The traditional techniques are evident in every stroke."

"As a priest, I commissioned an icon of Christ Pantocrator for our parish. The reverence and prayer that went into its creation are palpable. It has brought a renewed sense of divine presence to our sanctuary."

"I have come to know Joe through an Icon of St Joseph he had made for the late Archbishop Mercieca. I was so impressed by his work that when I was appointed Guardian of our Friary in Valletta, I asked him to decorate the Easter Candle.

When I moved to the Hamrun Friary, I commissioned Joe the work of 7 icons featuring the joyful mysteries of Mary. Also a double sided Crucifix for the main altar, showing the suffering Christ and His second coming into Glory.

The last work Joe did for me and most probably his largest work yet, was the Via Crucis, a complete set of 14 icons for the Church of St. Mary of the Angels at Bahar-ic-Caghaq

Joe is a very good iconographer who writes icons wih intense prayers and adhering strictly to the Cannons and materials according to the Byzantine Tradition
